Unique Weight Loss Tips: Get Motivated and Slim!

Friday, March 20th, 2009

Most traditional weight loss tips are compromised of the same verbiage spouting the importance of exercise and healthy eating habits.  And while we whole-heatedly concur, we thought we’d share a few of the other things you can easily do to help you get motivated and lose weight.

Make it Public – Letting your close friends and family know that you are trying to lose weight will not only hold you accountable for your actions (who wants to repeatedly make mistakes that everyone can see?) but it can also provide your very own, much-needed cheer squad.

Read the Labels – It’s not the most enjoyable task but it can make all the difference when it comes to losing weight and getting healthy. Pay particular attention to the ingredients list, calorie count, and serving size – for every serving you eat, you have to double the calories!

Befores & Afters – Taking before photos of yourself can get you motivated to lose weight, while the after photos clearly demonstrate all your hard work. Few things have as big of a motivational effect as before and after photographs of yourself - not to mention they are the easiest way for you to document all your progress.

Get Enough Beauty Rest – In order to function as a mean, lean, fat-burning machine, the body has to get enough sleep, which typically means at least eight hours a night. Sleep is the body’s way of restoring and rejuvenating itself, so when you feel fatigued and tired, you aren’t functioning optimally and likely gaining more than you’re losing.

Take a Supplement – While (most) diet pills are indeed designed to help you lose weight, a weight loss supplement can also have a powerful psychological effect, giving you the jumpstart you need to get serious about losing weight.

Find Support Online – Tap into the power of the Internet. With just a few mouse clicks, you can literally connect with individuals from all over the globe who are in the same boat as you. Connecting with someone who can empathize with your failures and celebrate your success can be an incredibly powerful tool in the weight loss battle.

Don’t Compare Yourself to Others – It’s imperative that you truly recognize that everyone’s body is different and consequently, everyone will lose weight differently. Comparing yourself to others can make you feel discouraged and lose focus of your goals.

5 Secrets to Staying Effortlessly Thin

Don’t Diet
The latest fad diets are essentially nothing more than self-deprivation techniques that eventually drive you to binge eat. Recognizing that making healthy food choices is more of a lifestyle change than a quick-fix, crazy diet is the first step in becoming effortlessly thin. Instead of dieting in the traditional sense, try incorporating more healthy foods you enjoy such as fresh fruit, cut veggies, nuts, and more protein into your current diet.

Stay Active
Who said being active has to be painfully unbearable and horrible? Staying active doesn’t mean barricading yourself in the gym for 2 hours every single day. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say that grown adults need a minimum of just 2 hours and 30 minutes of physical activity per week – that’s just 30 minutes a day! Find little ways to get moving throughout your day – take the stairs, walk around the block, play with your kids – and you’ll be surprised how quickly 30 minutes can add up.  Furthermore, the CDC also says that breaking your activity up into 10 minute increments is just as effective as doing it all at once.

Allow Yourself Treats
Yes, you read that right. When you deprive yourself of treats, it can trigger an insatiable craving that you are likely to give into eventually. Furthermore, it can foster binging and overeating. If it’s ice cream you’re really craving, then have some ice cream. To keep yourself from overeating, eat slowly, consciously, and just enough to put an end to the craving – it’s the best of both worlds!

Eat Breakfast
Did you know that in addition to taking Akavar, eating breakfast can actually help you lose weight? After a long night with no food entering your system, your metabolism doesn’t kick in unless it has food to burn. Eating within one hour of waking up will jumpstart your metabolism and keep it going strong all day long.

Don’t Skip Meals
First, going longer than 5 hours without food can slow down your metabolism, burning fewer calories. Second, when you’re famished, you are more likely to grab anything you can instead of consciously making a healthy food choice. Try eating smaller meals more frequently to keep you feeling full and your metabolism high.
